Italia Grosso, Dance Coach
Italia's love for dance began at age three in her home town of San Antonio, Texas, where she first began dance lessons.  Living the military lifestyle has afforded her the opportunity to train under and be influenced by a variety of dance professionals.  She also had the privilege to pass along this training to others through teaching four semesters of dance at F.A.C.S. Academy, a private co-operative school in Missouri. Italia graduated high school in May of 2016 from Soli Deo Gloria Academy.  She will continue to further her academic studies, participate in an internship with Pacific House of Mission, study art at the Honolulu Museum of Art School, and pursue various volunteer endeavors.  Italia is thankful to God for this opportunity to utilize her talents and passion in dance through Dance Movement Academy
Racquel Alfsen, Gymnastics Coach
As a "military brat" living in Italy, Racquel was introduced to the sport by competing in her school's gymnastics team. She later moved to Florida to compete with the Pensacola Junior College recreational gymnastics club and eventually worked for the program while going to college. She enjoyed working with the younger gymnasts, teaching them proper technique and form!  Maintaining proper conditioning also led Racquel to work as a supervisor in chiropractic clinics, rehabilitation and fitness centers. She received a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of West Florida and was certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health and Fitness Instructor.

When her family moved to Hawaii in 2009, she had her daughter join Kbay gymnastics. Coach Jori asked her to be on the team! At the same time, Coach Di allowed Racquel to train for a fitness competition after winning her first Novice Figure competition with the Organization of Competitive Bodybuilders. Unfortunately an injury sidelined her from training but she has been her daughter's biggest fan ever since! She feels blessed to be able to contribute to the gym as an Instructor, as well as a team parent.

Heather Shuford, Dance Coach
Born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. At age six, joined local County Chorus / Drama Team, and for the next eleven years, studied, competed and was a student teacher for competition in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical classes at Dance Dynamics, a dance academy in Columbus, N.C. in regional and national Scholastic Pageants.  She held the title of Miss Columbus North Carolina in 1999. Heather competed and placed in the Miss Columbus. In high school was a NCA, (National Cheerleading Association), All American National Cheerleader. For two of the four years, was team captain of the dance/ cheer competition squad. At age 21, danced with the North Carolina Star Stage Dance Company, which toured various cities on the east coast. Fall of 2008 and Summer 2012, I worked as a company choreographer for All That Jazz Company in Virginia, in ballet, tap, and jazz. In my time there I was also giving the tremendous honor to provide individual, and duo choreography for competitive age teams.  We moved to Hawaii this past July 2014. The majority of my life has been spent either on the stage, or watching my dancers with pride from the wings. And God willing, the new chapters that lay ahead of me will tarry on the same path at Dance Movement Academy with Di Rodin

He has been competing in gymnastics since was 6th grade, when he tried the sport out on a dare. He fell in love with the sport and continued to train and compete all the way to his senior year of High School. He was a specialist on Rings, High Bar and Parallel Bars. Bryce didn’t want to stop there; he put in an application to teach at age of 15 at Aerialworks Gymnastics in Rockwall Texas. By working at the gym, he found out that he love helping individuals increase their knowledge and skills in gymnastics, thus resulting in their rise in confidence and self-image. I taught Level 4 Boys Gymnastics as well as an assistant coach for the Girls Compulsory and Optional Team. I’m a very high energy individual and strongly look forward to being part of a new experience in my life.

Abbys says: “I’ve always loved kids. I love helping them learn and grow as young athletes. Being able to help kids accomplish goals, stay in shape, be happy and healthy is something irreplaceable.
To be able to have the opportunity to help young gymnasts grow would truly be not only fun but a great experience.”

Alexia Ryan, Gymnastics Coach
The many challenges that I have encountered over the course of my life have tested my fortitude. The response I developed over the years was one of a strength, purpose, and action. As a proud member of the Marine Corps, I depend on inner fortitude to propel me through the obstacles put before me; both figuratively and literally. As a child I developed my mental toughness and fighting spirit by participating in gymnastics. I loved how much it pushed me to be better and stronger, every day a new challenge, and every day a new accomplishment. I covet what gymnastics did for me as a child; today I strive to give the youth present at K-Bay Gymnastics the same opportunity; to open their eyes to the world of gymnastics.

One of the cornerstones of my life philosophy is commitment. I make it a priority to put time into the things that I am passionate about. I have done so with cheerleading, track, cross country, and the Marine Corps.

I don't have much experience with jobs other than the Marine Corps. I do however believe that no other job could have better prepared me for life. Throughout the challenges in my life, I have learned that there is nothing you can do except learn and grow from them. I believe strength can conquer all. I intend on instilling the same inner fortitude that I developed through gymnastics into every student I encounter here at K-Bay Gymnastics.
